i want to be more, do more, live more. i am young, but i am always reminded of a great scripture, “Teach us to number our days, so that we may gain a heart of wisdom”.–Psalm 90:12.
i stumbled upon a wonderfully beautiful blog called “A Well Traveled Woman“. her photos are warm, and so is her heart. a mother of two, her heart is in the right place. love, grace, family, servant hood. lately i have been racking my brain of how i can serve. we still do not have a lot of money even with this new job. i have to be wise and pay off my debts before i can help others financially. but you don’t have to have a lot of money to help others.
i started small. i began collecting coke tabs for The Ronald McDonald House here in Nashville. my office has free soda all day long! so, i figure, why not get people to pitch their tabs for a cause? a few of my friends also work at Second Harvest Food Bank here in Nashville, and i intend on finding some volunteer work. and i am inspired by these people. women and men, like the woman who writes this blog, that want to give of their time, money, and heart to those who are less fortunate.
“they will know us by our love…”–John 13:35
i encourage you to find a way to give to those around you. in anyway you can. it doesn’t have to be big. it not only changes the lives of those you help, but also yourself, and in turn, all the lives you touch daily.
“For as long as I can remember my heart has been geared toward helping the less fortunate. Perhaps out of my own pain I’ve grown more and more burdened to lift that of others. My life is so short, why not spend it investing in something that will carry on for generation after generation? No reason.”–a well traveled woman.
