…is what we are experiencing in the air this week! the weekend was full of moderate weather, but monday it rained and it. got. cold. so, in honor of father winter, i would like to begin the celebration of winter coats, scarves, hats, gloves, breath in the air, snow (oh please! oh please!), and warm, festive beverages. when it gets cold, most tend to retreat into the warm cocoon of their home, but not adam and i…this is our FAVORITE time to take walks. i don’t know why, we just love it. and with that, we love to stop off and get a yummy liquid treat….hot chocolate! well, sometimes you have to take a walk far away from a coffee shop, so how about we let martha sweeten up our lives with some homemade hot chocolate to take along the trail…
my friend lee anne with Discovery Toys helped me out with this recipe! i am so excited to make some hot chocolate at home. it is a fun activity, and, in my opinion, special because it is homemade.
3 1/2 cups sugar
2 1/4 cups cocoa
1 tablespoon table salt
Whole milk for serving
1.In a large bowl, combine sugar, cocoa, and salt, and whisk to combine well. Store the mixture in an airtight container.
2.For individual servings, pour 1 cup whole milk into a microwave-safe mug, and microwave on high just until hot. Add 2 tablespoons of cocoa mix, and stir to dissolve. For a larger batch of cocoa, warm the milk in a saucepan set over medium-low heat, taking care not to let the milk boil; as it warms, stir in 2 tablespoons of mix for each cup of milk.
sooooo easy….hooray! happy wednesday!
