i frequent the farmers markets in nashville. my interest in them kicked up this spring. my husband is a personal trainer and an avid researcher of all things healthy (lucky me!). so, basically i hang on his coat-tails for the ride of information. i truly believe in going to the farmers market whenever you can for your groceries. if you live in a community that offers you the choice of helping support your local farmers, i say go for it. there are 2 that i visit, depending on the week and when i can get out there. the West Nashville Farmers Market on Saturday mornings was the first one i went to. these guys are open year round! my favorite place to visit is Foxy Baking Company….i could die on all her pasties, especially her strawberry tarts!
it is such a moving thing to see all these farmers out in the heat of the summer to sell their food. the other one i visit, and probably my favorite is the 12 South Farmers Market on Tuesday afternoons. my favorite meat place there is Triple L Ranch and my favorite place to get produce is Bountiful Blessings Farm or Delvin Farms.
if you live in nashville or plan on visiting, you should try to get out to these markets. yesterday i got to see my friend melvin at the Grilled Cheeserie Truck, my first visit to a foodtruck ever. it was excellent!
